What is Yin Yoga?

Yin Yoga is a slow and meditative practice in which we sink into a posture for minutes at a time.

In this quiet practice, you may either; challenge yourself in this stillness, sinking towards the floor or enjoy the calm as you relax into a soft bolster easing the posture.

This practice focuses on exercising the lower body. In particular the hips and lower back. Yin Yoga theory suggests the physical benefit is within the deeper layers of the physical body, mainly the joints and connective tissues.

Yin Yoga is a wonderful complement to your dynamic (Yang in nature) yoga practices and particularly Yang exercise (repetitive & high load). Many Yin Yoga practitioners claim it avails them much greater comfort in the body and sense of relief from tension.
