Mt Helena Yin Yang Retreat
Bridging the Practice
April 1st -3rd 2011
Join Stephen Byrne for this insightful retreat upon his return from Singapore and Hong Kong having completed intensive training with the founder of Yin Yoga, Paul Grilley.
Yin Yoga is a quiet, meditative style of yoga that is the perfect complement to more dynamic (yang) yoga practices. Through Yin Yoga you can access greater depths of postures than you may in a more dynamic practice. Yin Yoga leads us deeper not just physically but mentally and emotionally into our yoga practice. Yin is a wonderful way to work with injuries, help the body become unstuck and quieten the mind. Suitable for beginners or advanced yogis, Yin is a highly accessible and thoroughly transformative practice.
This is a unique opportunity to practice with a teacher who has undergone hours of certified training both with Victor Chng of Yoga in Asia, and Paul Grilley himself. Stephen is a member of Yoga Australia (formerly YTAA) and teaches Ashtanga and Yin classes at The Yoga Space. His travels have taken him to both South East Asia to study Yin and numerous trips to India to study at the K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute.
Laila Mahmud, the lead Vinyasa teacher of The Yoga Space, will assist throughout the retreat and will meld the Yin Yang theories with the presentation of a unique Yin Yang class. Laila is also a member of Yoga Australia and a qualified Yin Yoga teacher.
This restful weekend is an opportunity to bridge the practices of Yin and Yang Yoga. We will develop a greater understanding of both styles and clarify their complementary natures.
