Dr Jean Byrne: Course Co-ordinator

Authorised Ashtanga Yoga teacher, Senior member of the YTAA, Co-editor of Yoga in the Modern World: Contemporary Perspectives
Jean began practicing yoga at the age of 19 while completing a Bachelor of Arts in World Religions and Philosophy. After lengthy travels in Asia studying different yoga and meditation traditions she became a student of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Jean has lectured in Eastern philosophy at various Australian universities while she completes her Philosophy PhD thesis. She is a qualified primary school teacher and a Senior member of the Yoga Teachers Association of Australia. Jean is authorised by Sri K Pattabhi Jois to teach Ashtanga Yoga and runs The Yoga Space with her husband Rob. Jean mentors students through the course, marks assignments, observes prac classes and presents on numerous subjects during the course.

Rob Schütze:

Rob began practicing Ashtanga Yoga while studying Journalism at university. Wanting to deepen his knowledge of yoga and meditation, he later left his career as a journalist and traveled around Asia practising yoga and attending Buddhist meditation retreats. Rob is now a devoted student of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, the grandfather of Ashtanga Yoga, and returns regularly to study with him and his grandson in Mysore, India. Rob also offers counseling in addition to teaching yoga. Rob is authorised to teach Ashtanga Yoga by Sri K Pattabhi Jois and runs The Yoga Space with Jean. Rob teaches communication skills, asana, ethics and theories of adjusting on the course.

Sky Dawson:
BSc MSc
Sky has been practicing Insight Meditation since 1981 and her guiding teachers are Joseph Goldstein, Steve Armstrong and Kamala Masters. She has studied and taught meditation in Australia and the USA and has completed a teacher training program at the Insight Meditation Society (IMS) in Barre, Massachusetts. Sky teaches meditation on the training course

Dr Saam Renton
BA, Hons, Grad Dip Ed, PhD, Senior member of the YTAA
Saam Renton began his study of yoga and meditation in Australia and this soon lead him to years of intensive yoga and meditation practice in Malaysia, Thailand and India. He is a qualified highschool teacher, a mathematician and a Senior member of the Yoga Teachers Association of Australia. Saam teaches asana and meditation to trainees.

Neil Nabbefeld
BSci, Grad Cert Pilates Based Movement Therapy, APMA Member
Neil has over 20 years experience in fitness in movement therapy. He has been practicing Pilates for more than 13 years and specialises in Pilates for rehabilitation and pain management. He is one of Perth's only qualified Gyrotonic instructors and is a graduate of the inaugural Australian Pilates Method Association’s Level 1 Pilates Instructor Course (1996). Neil is also a Registered Level 1 Instructor Course Provider for the APMA, teaching on the course since 1997. His years of experience with movement therapies and his approachable manner make him a skilled teacher who successfully applies theory to practical contexts. Neil is the owner of Revolution Pilates Studio in Mt Hawthorn. He teaches trainees experiential anatomy.

Zoe Islip
Registered Midwife and Birth Educator
Zoe works as a midwife and birth educator in Perth hospitals. She also runs Hush Post Natal Services and her organisation aims to assist families during the zero - six week postnatal period. Zoe teaches Active Birth workshops together with Jean at The Yoga Space and educates trainees about the processes involved during pregnancy, birth and post-natally.

Chandrika Gibson
Naturopath, Level 2 Member of the YTAA, Flower Essence Therapist
Chandrika Gibson holds an Advanced Diploma in Applied Science (Naturopathy) and was one of the first graduates with an Advanced Diploma in Flower Essence Therapy from the LiFE Academy. She is also a graduate of Greenwood Yoga Centres respected and recognised Holistic Yoga Teacher Training course. Her extensive theoretical training has been refined by nine years of clinical experience during which time she has also worked as a Supervisor in the Perth Academy of Natural Therapies Student Clinic. Chandrika is a well known lecturer and presenter in the fields of Flower Essences and Yoga. She is involved in Greenwood Yoga Centres Teacher Training course as a presenter in subjects as diverse as History and Philosophy, Yogic Physiology and the Relaxation and Meditation module. As a mother of two Chandrika has experience with pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and early childhood illnesses. Her experience as a mother enhances her pragmatic approach to helping others access the healing potential in their lives.

Camille (Sahaja) Adams
Kids Yoga specialist

Camille/Sahaja co-ordinates and facilitates the meetings of the Toddler, Kids, Teens Yoga teacher network in Perth and is an experienced kids yoga teacher.
